FOUR SQUARE NIGHT MARE is the web site of Brian Lenth. Brian (last name pronounced 'LENT') lives in Iowa City, Iowa, where he attempts to create music and art in various forms. He earned a Bachelor of Music in Composition from the University of Iowa in 2008, and is active as a viola player, currently studying with Michael Kimber. He also occasionally plays the piano, and has played guitar and written songs in a few bands, including Dirty Sixty, The Bougm Fellows, and the transatlantic act Solid Oswald.

When not composing or practicing viola, Brian can be found doing illustrations, comic art, animation and other forms of visual art. Recently he has been designing playing cards (which you can purchase on this site). In the past he has drawn some comics on the internet, and even drew editorial cartoons for the U of I's student newspaper. In 2007, Brian and some friends co-created and co-hosted The Jubi Show, on Iowa City's local cable channel PATV.

The name of this site refers to a creative philosophy Brian employs, by which all forms of "foursquarishness" are avoided.
